Student Narratives

In Brazilian culture, women were considered second class citizens until the end of the nineteenth century and could not attend University until then.

We spoke to 6 female engineering students at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, who are entering a typically male-dominated industry.

They speak about their experiences of not feeling safe on public transport, to stories of sexism in the field of engineering, to how school and education have shown them possibilities outside of the home and the community of female engineers that supports them.
